Summer Homework For 8th Graders

All rising 1st through 8th Grade students will be responsible for completing “Summer Learning Packets”. These packets are designed to challenge students in the areas of math, reading and writing.

Our students had a busy year learning new math skills and concepts. Any amount of time spent reviewing or reinforcing these skills and concepts will be very beneficial for your child. Therefore, we have implemented the addition of the Summer Solutions Math Workbook to help build upon the previous year’s math skills and concepts. Each student will be required to complete a minimum of 15 lessons of their choice in the workbook for the Summer Learning Packet. Once completed, both student and parent must sign the Student Math Goal Form.

These assignments are intended as review and enrichment for your child as they prepare to move forward into the next grade.  Please spend some time with your child going over the “Summer Learning Packets” and forming a “game plan” for their completion. Students are expected to turn in ALL completed work including the reading assignments and signed Student Math Goal Form on the first day of school on August 12, 2016.

 Dear Parents and Students,

Summer vacation is a time of relaxation and fun, but it is also a time of preparation for the next academic year. The summer assignment that is to follow is designed with this preparation in mind. It reflects not only the level of texts students will encounter in their new grade, but also the standards they will have to adhere to in all of their oral and written work.

Considering the length of the novels, it is vital that students start on these assignments on time. The sooner students start to read these works, the more leisurely they can complete the assignments. Please also be advised that the two book forms will count toward the book forms students will have to complete by June based on their independent reading books. These book forms count as 10% of the marking period and final grade every marking period. No late packets will be accepted without a note from a parent, and lateness may result is a loss of points.

Assignment: Your task is to complete 2 Independent Reading Book Forms over the summer.  One must be the starred book (**) and the other can be your choice from the list.  Each question should be answered thoroughly and with evidence, when requested. Enjoy J
